Biography

Professor Dr. Kıvılcım Metin Özcan received her bachelor's degree in 1979 from Management and Administrative School affiliated to T.O.D.A.İ.E (Institute of Public Administration for Turkey and the Middle East). She started her academic career in 1981 as a Research Assistant in the Department of Economics at Gazi University. She received her Master's degree in Economics from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1984 and completed her Ph.D in Economics in 1992 at the University of Oxford. In the same year, she started to work as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Bilkent University and became an Associate Professor in 1995 at the same institution. After working in the Department of Economics at Bilkent University for 20 years, she moved to Konya Necmettin Erbakan University in 2012 for a position as a Professor. Until September 2017, she worked as the head of Department of Economics of Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Konya Necmettin Erbakan University. In September 2017, she started her duty in Ankara University of Social Sciences, Faculty of Political Sciences. She contributed to the field with large number of studies published in various books and in indexed journals. She is also currently on academic boards of many journals and has memberships in economic organizations.
