Short Bio: A monetary and financial economist, with BA, Cairo University MA, Univ. of Illinois, Graduate Resident Studies, UCLA and PhD, USC.  Currently a professor of economics and finance at ASBU and founding member of the International Center for Islamic Economics and Finance, Chief Editor of its Journal of Islamic Economics to be launched shortly, Honored with the IDB Prize in Islamic Economics, banking and finance, 2019. He is a member of the Shari'ah Board of Dubai Financial Market, DFM, the Royal Economic Society and the International Association of Islamic Economics.

Director of IsDB Department of Economics and Policy Planning, where he participated in establishing SESTRIC, Ankara, and started a program for financing trade among OIC member countries. The Secretary General of the Council of Arab Governors of Central Banks and editor of the Joint Arab Economic Report, presented yearly to the Arab League, the Arab Monetary Fund. He worked as Director General of the IsDB Islamic Research and Training Institute, IRTI and Chief Editor of its journal. He worked as the financial advisor and Head of Training for the Emirates Islamic bank, and participated in the establishment of new Islamic banks in Algeria, Bosnia and Kazakhstan, and in amending the banking laws in Syria and Kazakhstan to allow for Islamic banking. He taught economics at USC, Cairo Univ and the Institute of National Planning, Cairo. He taught Islamic economics in Khomeini Institute, Iran, Hamad Ben Khalifa University in Qatar and INCEIF University in Malaysia. He is currently working on the first textbook in analytical Islamic Economics, to be published electronically and made freely accessible to all. It includes several breakthroughs in the field. He was born in 1938 in Fayoum, Egypt. He is married with six children and 9 grandchildren. He is unpublished (Arabic) poet and a published economist.
