Our faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Seyid Fahri Mahmud and Res. Asst. Fatih Furkan Akosman, gave a seminar titled "Turkish Gridlock: Tradeoff between Macro and Financial Stability: A Partially Integrated System Dynamics Approach" as part of the Economics Department Seminar Series at Ostim Technical University on 29th of July, 2025.

Our faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Seyid Fahri Mahmud and Res. Asst. Fatih Furkan Akosman, gave a seminar titled "Modeling Turkish Financial Vulnerabilities: A System Dynamics Approach" at Department of Economics at Başkent University on 26th of June, 2025.

The book titled "Futurisks: Risk Management in the Digital Age", co-edited by our faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halis Kıral, has been published by Springer.

We organized a farewell dinner event to honor the retirement of our esteemed faculty member, Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım Metin Özcan. During this event, which was attended by our faculty members, our department head, Prof. Dr. Seyithan Ahmet Ateş, and our deputy head of department, Ayşenur Karakaş Aydınbakar, presented gifts to Prof. Dr. Kıvılcım Metin Özcan on behalf of our department.

The article titled "Corruption and Informal Practices in the Middle East and North Africa: A Pooled Cross-Sectional Analysis" co-authored by our faculty member Assist. Prof. Fatih Kırşanlı, has been published in the "Journal of Institutional Economics".

The article titled "Can Religious Fasting Nudge People to Smoke Less? Evidence from Ramadan" co-authored by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Burcu Uğur and our PhD student Abdullah Doğan, has been published in "Nicotine & Tobacco Research".

The article titled "Unhappiness among the unemployed: The roles of descriptive norms,injunctive norms and personal beliefs" co-authored by our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Zeynep Burcu Uğur and our PhD student Ayşenur Durak, has been published in "Asian Journal of Social Psychology".

Our faculty member, Prof. Barış Alpaslan, has been appointed as an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology. We congratulate him and wish him success in his new position.

We held the third session of our EconTalks webinar series, titled "The Political Economy of Corruption", online on April 23rd, 2025. In this event moderated by our faculty member Assist. Prof. Fatih Kırşanlı, our distinguished speaker, Assoc. Prof. Chandan Kumar Jha from the Madden School of Business and Economics at Le Moyne University discussed the relationship between corruption and economic policies.
